The sable color was deemed a genetic discoloration defect in 2010 by the Club Epagneul Breton France. The sable color is not allowed in the Epagneul Breton UKC conformation standard and are not eligible for awards in UKC licensed events. Many breeders in the U.S are still breeding dogs with the sable gene therefore further contaminating our breed. Our breeding dogs have all been tested N/N for the sable gene!
